Background

AlphaBot is a U.S.-based startup offering a portfolio construction and analytics platform that automates complex processes, saving analysts and portfolio managers up to 90% of their time. Designed for hedge fund managers, investors, and analysts, it streamlines portfolio creation and optimization, reducing manual errors and spreadsheet work. AlphaBot initially developed a basic in-house version with simple functionality and a website.

Challenge

The team initially focused on developing a desktop application for Windows. However, as the project evolved, the client thought about developing the app’s web-based version. However, in the first edition of the application, the UI would freeze during heavy calculations, leading to a poor user experience. This issue needed to be addressed to ensure smoother interactions. Additionally, many companies have strict security protocols that limit the installation of third-party software. To address this challenge, AlphaBot opted to develop a web version, allowing users to test the application directly in their browsers using real data.
